New York City Trip & The Buena Vista Social Club

"The second piece of the day was the broadway musical “The Buena Vista Social Club”, which simply blew me away. The loud and energy filled cuban rhythms, combined with the vivid colored outfits and set, and fast salsa dancing created an unbelievable atmosphere in the theater..." - From personal reflection

CT Forum “Global Affairs”

The CT Forum is an awesome opportunity to hear from highly accomplished speakers, and the "Global Affairs" event I attended was no exception. Hearing Admiral James Stavridis and Anne Applebaum discuss their stances on current events was insightful, educational, and engaging. Some of the topics that were discussed include the Trump administration changes to USAID, the Russia-Ukraine conflict, and the future of the Middle East.

ADL Never is Now Conference 2025

For the second year in a row, I attended the ADL Never is Now conference in New York. This trip comes with so many complicated feelings, of pride, anger, connection and frustration, to name a few. Attending a conference this big is such an awing experience, and empowering to be in spaces filled with so many people all fighting for change. While there were certainly people I disagreed with, that only added to the experience.

Friday Prayers at Farmington Valley American Muslim Center

A few weeks ago I had the privilege of attending Friday prayers at the Farmington Valley American Muslim Center, and learned a lot about Islam and the Muslim faith...The sermon and service was fascinating, filled with fast arabic (which I loved hearing) song, chanting, teaching and silence.

MASS MoCA

From the vast mazes of Sol Lewitt’s colors and patterns, to the swinging blue head entrance of Hybridibad, to the unbelievable creativity and detail of the Plastic Bag Store, and the emotions evoked from the Laurie Anderson room, MASS MoCA was truly a roller coaster experience and I enjoyed every minute of it.

Arn Chorn-Pond Visit

Arn Chorn-Pond is a Cambodian American musician and activist, who lived through the Khmer Rouge regime. His visit to Watkinson taught me a lot about Cambodian culture and arts, and showed me just how big an impact one person can make.

Justice Mullins'
Public Hearing

Seeing Justice Raheem Mullins public hearing before being confirmed as Head Justice of the Connecticut Supreme Court showed me a window into how our local court system works. It was also truly inspiring getting to witness the accomplishments of a Watkinson alum.
